My Metal Studio

This is my stash of stuff for metal and wood sculptures. There is some order here, even though it looks a jumble.

Nine Foot Tall Metal Woman

A Blue Ribbon winner at the 2008 Mariposa County Fair. She is one powerful babe!

Glass Mosaic Tray

Last night I got the bug to do some mosaic work after I watched the Bottle Village video. My Mom gave me an old metal tray with wood handles. It's a perfect size for these glass tesserae. Tiles are placed for color balance and intensity. I've since grouted with white and then will stain the grout darker.

Old Colander Rain Chain

Colanders, baling wire, old rusty washers. This makes a terrific gushing sound when rain comes down from the gutter.

Paint Can Lid Wind Sculpture

Ribbon winner at the Mariposa County Fair. This 6' high sculpture makes a wonderful clinking noise when the wind rustles it. And yes, we have used a lot of paint while fixing up our house!!!

Dolly Carton

Surely you all know Dolly Parton? And what she's famous for? Well, here's my sculpture of Dolly! A Red Ribbon winner at the Mariposa County Fair. She's made of a paint brush, bottle caps, old garden glove, screws, bubble wrap, egg carton, googly eyes and wire.

The Original Recy-Queen

I titled her Recy-Queen and now that's how I identify myself! Metal ducting, smashed cans, jar lids, rake part, Slinky, finials, pie tin, flue cap, fan screen. A blue ribbon winner at the Mariposa County Fair.

Tin Man and Mom

Mom and I made this great Tin Man. He's now mostly an even shade of rusty red and still looks great!

Metal Sculptures at the Mariposa Earth Day 2009

Making Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum during the Earth Day Festival at the Mariposa Landfill and Recycling Center. All sculptures won blue ribbons at the Mariposa County Fair, different years.

Meow Chow Chain

Linked chain of cat food cans. Lots of links, lots of cans, lots of time. A Blue Ribbon at the Mariposa County Fair, 2002.

Bottle Cap Man

I made this figure several years ago of bottle caps, pieces of aluminum flashing, tin cans, jar lids and a plastic pen cap (nose). I love this little guy!!

Donuts

Old ducting from our forced air heating system that we removed. Beautiful - and to think my husband almost took this stuff to the landfill!!

Good-bye, Old Paint, I'm A-leavin' Cheyenne!

I learned this song in 5th Grade. Perfect for this horse I made. Won a First Prize Blue Ribbon at the Mariposa County Fair.

You Gotta Have Heart

Tin Man of cat food cans, kitchen pans, paint lids, wire, old glove and shoe brushes. First Place at the Mariposa County Fair.
